- Chief of State: In this role, the president is representing the United States everywhere he/she goes. So if they are going to a different country for something they hopefully are making themselves look good because they are representing the United States.
- Chief Executive: The president is in charge of a large company, like a coporation. For example, Harry Truman issued an executive order abolishing segregation in the military.
- Chief Manage of Economy: The president works with congress to set budget and tax policy. He/she appoints members of the Federal Reserve Board. An example would be when President Roosevelt led a campaign against the abuse of large monopolies and called for several corporations to be broken up.
- Chief Diplomat: The president oversees foreign issues and talks to foreign leaders as well. When Washington went to the senate in 1789 to seek advice on a treaty with the Creek Indians would be an example of chief diplomat.
- Commander in Chief: The president is responsible for military operations and security of the nation. An example would be when Bush let us in Iraq.
- Chief legislator: The president sets a policy agenda, purpose legislation or convinces congress members to support or oppose certain bills that he/she may be in favor of or may not be in favor of. An example would be Obamacare.
- Chief of Party: The president is the leader of their party. He/she makes sure everything is going how it should be.
- Chief Citizen: The president does what best interests the people and embodys American ideals. George W. Bust went to NY after 9/11 happened and brought everyone together as a "family."
